Project Life Dec 12 to 18

Sorry im so late with this post, i actually had it complete on the 20th  but i just keep forgetting to picture it, and as i was working on last weeks today i thought i better get my butt in gear lol.  This one has a few inserts as it was the last week of school and Lucy was given a ton of certificates and some of her artwork from home.

Left hand page

  • Lucy's last ballet class
  • Lucy's last swim lesson
  • School assembly
  • Lucy's last day of school
Right hand page

  • The service awards at school on the last day of school
  • The movies we watched this week
  • My new kit that arrived this week from Studio Calico
  • Lucy's word she learned this week watching Home Alone
  • A picture of Lucy and I after our girly make over - check out the bronzer Lucy put on me :)
  • Our nights at the Christmas Wonderland
The inserts
  • Student of the week award
  • Gold reach certificate (for good behaviour, this is really good as she was only at school half the year)
  • 1st place high jump award
  • 2nd place shot put award
  • 3rd place discus award
  • Her swimmers award with under water photo
  • Her first pieces of artwork from school
  • A letter from Santa Claus
I sat today and did all the journaling from last weeks PL and let me tell you its got TONS in it, but then it was Christmas, I ordered my pictures for it and i will upload it ASAP

Tonight Lucy is going to stay at a friend house and im so excited, it will be so nice to just chill with Gary for a while. We are planning on a take away and some drinks and a movie as the first sleep over Lucy had lasted 3 hours and we got called back from our meal, I would just feel better knowing i am only over the road if this happens again. wish us luck haha

Team Arse!

Here is a layout i did for this weeks sketch over at Studio Calico, as soon as i saw it i knew i would use this border stamp set as i have been dying to try it out, I love that it has the wee insert bit that you can use as well as the outline. I finally did some stamping with my prima chalk inks, now i LOVE these but i was not to fussed on them for stamping as they really do mess up your stamps, but tonight i just wiped them with a baby wipe and i will do this in the future. To give you an idea of what I'm talking about, they have the same texture as the white from Stampin Up.

For the title, you are probably like What the? well i work with this lady and she just has always loved the way i say arse! remember I'm a Scottish girl living in New Zealand so i sound way different to what she is used to lol, anyway it has become a running joke and we now call each other arse, it is so funny when someone is there who does not know the private joke ha ha, anyway she is awesome and i thought it deserved a page :)

Oh Christmas tree

today's theme over at Practical Scrappers is 'Christmas layouts' I made this whole layout using no Christmas products what ever, i used all my stash last year, I'm a good girl lol. Anyway i used my Silhouette for the snowflakes and did some mist splatters. I actually really really love this layout, i don;t know what it is but it sure makes me happy to keep looking at it ha ha, is it just me or does anyone else keep looking at the layouts they are so happy with? Oh and i used chalk in to alter the alphas to that beautiful grey colour :)

New Amy Tangerine goodies and a layout

So if you are like me and LOVED her line this year, you will be so happy to know she has some new items coming out to go with it and i for one am SO excited and i will be getting at least one of everything please :)
Anyway i just thought i would share the new items here in case you have not seen them around yet.

The new day books (copied this from Amy's blog with her permission)
Measuring in at 5.5 x 8.5 inches and 4.5 x 6.5 inches, these new Day books are bursting with beautiful colors, dozens of eclectic pages and that inspiration galore that is so uniquely Amy Tangerine.
For those of you who love adventure, these new Day books offer crafters of all ages and skill-levels versatility in personalizing your books with photos, journal entries, ticket stubs, food wrappers — anything from your trip across town or across the world.
Inside of these books
new embellishments
So at first my favourite one was the one with the plane on it, but the last couple of days it is the one to the left of it lol, so yes i need them all. I plan on putting a few away and taking them to LA next year and using these as my minis rather than making them myself this year, takes so much pressure of off me for sure :)

Next up i though i would share a layout i worked on over the past few days and boy it took me HOURS to sew, no joke. Lesson i learned was not to do to much sewing when the 5yr old is on school holidays as i just could not get it worked on so it took me about 4 or 5 hours in total, where as normally it would take me an hour max. It was supposed to be a 8.5x11 layout but i didn't like it so its now 12 by 12 and altered somewhat. I'm very happy with it as i was showing Gary it on skype and straight away he said is that a lot of stitching on there, so the fact he saw all the work i put into it makes me very happy, even if it was not what i had in mind at the start. You must excuse the bottom picture, we were on the beach after just finishing my 6th glass of wine, so i may be a tad drunk lol, but it was a great night :) This layout was for a challenge over at Studio Calico this week, we were asked to make a layout that we were inspired by something so i went to pintrest and this picture here inspired me, i LOVE chevrons just now so i went with this one, using my awesome Silhouette to cut them out.

My inspiration piece

Create - Door plaque

This is something i made at the weekend, it was from a bit of a cardboard box that i had put away for this very reason, i just liked the shape of it. I just topped it with paper and inked the edges. The veneer alphas are inked then i coated them in glossy accents, i swear I'm in love with this stuff right now.

All materials are using Pink Paislee's Nantucket awesome line with some Maya road buttons and some alphas

Project life Dec 5 to 11

Well here i am back with my 2nd week of Project life and it is a biggy alright, This took me a few hours last night to put together but i just love how it turned out.

Here are a couple of overhead shots (sorry these are blurry for some reason)

For this week i have 3 added inserts as it was just a busy week for us.

Page one

The title card was made using some fabulous Elle's Studio cards, these are fabulous for PL in my opinion and i used more of those awesome SC wooden veneer alphas, i don't know what i will do when those run out as i want to use them on everything lol

this page was to record
  • The fact that Gary and I have now been together 13 years, crazy but it doesn't seem it.
  • It was 3 years ago that we first arrived in NZ and what a sunset we arrived too
  • Lucy goes to Pippins every week and they had there end of term party this week
  • We spent the day wrapping all our presents, its the first time in 13 years we have ever done it together, i normally wrap it all myself
first insert - This is a copy of the program for Lucy's dance show this week, this was put into a 6x12 pp and cut down. This is just another example of why we should all do PL i have so many of these programs from previous performances that are just lying in boxes, this way they actually get kept together all documented.

Next insert - A couple of pictures Lucy has drawn this week
Insert 3 front page
This page i dedicated to Lucy's dance show over the weekend, the last couple of years i have scrapped about 20 layouts for each show plus a mini, so i decided to put a lot of the pictures in this and i have held back a couple to do a layout with, makes my life so much easier.

Insert 3 back page
Again i dedicated this to one thing, her Christmas parade, Lucy loved being in this instead of just watching it, she was asked on 4 different floats, she is a popular girl lol.

Back page
This one was dedicated to my work day out, we had an absolute blast, i have kept back a couple of pics to do a layout for this too.

Anyway i hope you like my PL so far as I'm enjoying doing it, even if it does take a few hours to put together each week, it has certainly taken the pressure of staying on top of my scrap booking layouts

Here is another layout made using the Harvest Moon December kit, this one used plenty of mist (love this shade) and my new SC masks, i have been wanting this one for EVER lol. Oh and spot more veneer shapes lol. These are more pics from our Disney trip this year, these ones are of Lucy and I on the Tarzan tree house, that Lucy insisted on climbing every time we walked by lol

Sunset BLVD

this is another picture from LA this year using the Harvest moon December kit, this was a 4x6 picture that i just cut in half, just to be different lol. These Studio Calico veneer shapes are just awesome i LOVED using them

Project life Dec 1 to 4

Well i finally decided to jump on the whole Project life band wagon and I'm sooooo glad that i did, I just couldn't wait until the new year so i decided as i was not doing a December Daily i would start mine on Dec 1st. The other reason i chose the first of Dec is that there was a whole lot of stuff happening this week so i thought it would be perfect to jump on in. I have decided i will do my weeks Monday to Sunday only so that i have Sat and Sun as a whole weekend rather than split into to weeks of documentation and the other is that i plan to sit on a Sunday night and organize the pictures i want to use and where i want to put them, I have found the picture organizing the most time consuming as i want to include them all ha ha.

I was going to order the new Clementine core kit but i have decided to see how i go just using scraps and parts of my SC kits as i have a ton of product. I have became obsessed to be honest and i am always on the look out for some things i can use in the pages each week, i have found a TON of journal cards in my stash that i had got in kits and never used, well they will sure come in handy now, that's for sure.

So here is a shot of my PL as a whole and i will then show you each side closer up

I have one insert that you will see in the following 2 pictures, the 2 pictures are ones Lucy drew for us while Gary and i were on our date night :)

Here is a close up of the left hand page

  • This page is documenting the picture of Lucy in the school news letter, she was awarded student of the week for her hard work in reading and writing (so glad i started PL this week just for this lol)
  • The junior big day out, this was an end of term school trip to the swimming pool in town and also a play at the park with a pizza lunch, I was lucky to have took part as a parent helper so snapped some pictures. The yellow paper was actually the time table i was given and i just cut it down and added some washi tape too it. The junior fun day out header was on the newsletter from the school i just cut the heading off and inked the edges.
  • Lucy and Ella dressed our Christmas tree while Gary and I were out, Lucy was so happy that she was allowed to do this without me and i have been very good and left it the way she did it :)
  • Lucy had her final dress rehearsal for her dance show, she is very excited about this show
Here is a close up of the right page

  • Gary and I went out on a date night, we had so much fun. We went for a yummy as meal then we headed to a couple of bars for some drinks, we then went for a nice walk on the beach before heading home. The picture in the middle is a tradition for us, whenever we go out our baby sitter takes a picture of us before we leave. The bottom left is our dinner receipt and a bar mat :)
  • We had our first ever professional photo shoot done, this was so much fun. The picture above is a sneak i copied from their face book page, i can not wait to see the rest :)
  • The bottom right spot is blank for now, Lucy has swim lessons and they took some under water snaps so as soon as they give me them i will put one in that spot
I was so happy that i had this completed the day after the week ended, i had them printed while Lucy was at a dance class in town and came straight home and completed the pages. I really love how it has turned out and i can't wait to get more done. The next week will be a biggy as we had a TON on, in fact i have just sat and edited all the pictures for it and its a big one lol

Hope you like what you see, and if you have any advice on PL please feel free to leave a comment as i will take it all on board, im sure there are lots of ways i could be doing it  :)

Road Trip

Here is another layout i made using the Dec kit from Harvest Moon, I scrapped more pictures from our LA trip this year, i may have taken a LOT of pictures of various signs ha ha but it made me happy and that is all that matters right?
Please excuse the stitching, i tried to free hand a circle lol

Dodgem fun

This is a layout using pictures from LA this year, I HATE dodgems with a passion, i always have but of course Lucy wanted on them so i had to just to keep her happy (isn't that what our job is after all ha ha) These are papers using the AMAZING line from Pink Paislee and i just LOVE them so much, i never actually buy papers apart from kits but i had to make an exception for this beautiful line :)

Materials are all from Pink Paislee apart from the alphas which are Studio Calico and the washi tapes which are from Cute tape, 7gypsey and American Crafts

This is a layout i made with Harvest Moons new December kit, this was a boyishy kit and as i don't do boyish i made it fit what i needed it for, love that i was able to still use it. I finally received my SC masks so had fun trying them out and oh boy the new Mister huey Clay is just WOW i just love me some grey just now :)

Painter face

Here is another layout i did using a challenge over at the Studio Calico blog, this one is a couple of weeks old but i still did it anyway as i wanted to take part. I really love how this layout came out and i can not stop using the fabulous Prima Chalk inks to edge my pages and pictures, just love the effect and they dry soooooo fast. I also used them to alter the veneer alphas from Pink Paislee, though I'm thinking i may add some glossy accents to them to brighten them up a bit.
The leaves in this picture were something i did not think i would use when i saw the kit but i have like 3 left, i love them, i decided to stitch some veins on them here. I just love how bright this layout is.

Materials used (using handmade by Studio Calico)
Papers - October afternoon and Pink Paislee
Die cut shapes - October Afternoon
Alphas - Pink Paislee, October Afternoon and American Crafts
Ink - Prima
Punch - Martha Stewart
Staples - Tim Holtz
Leaves - American Crafts
Thread - DMC

Meeting Mickey

This layout was made for the weekly challenge over on the Studio Calico blog, we were asked to scrap a layout using a smaller page. This one started 8x8 but when i was finished i thought it needed something more so i added in the red PP to help make the page stand out some more. So the finished layout is 8.5x8.5 and i really like it. I decided to not make it too fussy and thought the misting would be a nice touch.

Materials Used (using Handmade by Studio Calico)
Pattern Papers - LilyBee and Crate Paper
Mist - Studio Calico
Alphas - American Crafts and October Afternoon

A dirty child is a happy child

For Decembers inspiration over at Scrap with V we were given this picture to come up with a layout.
I decided to to stick with a fairly neutral colour palate and went with layers, I love this picture of Lucy's feet and it was great to get them in a layout at last :)
